Terre Blanche’s commitments and services
At Terre Blanche, we make responsibility and sustainability the founding principles that guide each of our actions.
At Terre Blanche, we make responsibility and sustainability the founding principles that guide each of our actions.
What's more responsible than an existing dress?
At Terre Blanche our dresses come from the 1920s to the 1990s, unearthed one by one from individuals and professionals throughout France.
A crucial and risky step, we only use sustainable and responsible products to clean, whiten and stain our dresses such as percarbonate of soda, baking soda or white vinegar.
Before being delivered, each dress is cleaned and ironed a final time by our dry cleaners.
Once cleaned, the dress passes into the expert hands of our seamstresses to repair it.
We change buttons, linings and redo hems.
At this stage, we also sometimes choose to modify the dress to modernize it, for example by opening a neckline, adjusting the length of the sleeves or the skirt, etc.
Once a bride chooses the dress, the dress is adjusted to her size. It is also entirely possible to personalize it according to the bride's choices.
Sometimes we can't clean a dress and in this case, we reuse the fabric to make accessories.
We also choose to dye with natural dyes all the dresses that we have not managed to clean.
Each dress is delivered in a cover made from upcycled fabrics.
Finally, once your wedding is over, we suggest that you think together about how to transform your Terre Blanche dress one last time so that it can accompany you throughout your life (everyday dress, cushion, bed throw, etc.).
If you wish, we can assist you in the restoration of a family dress according to the same responsible specifications as those of our dresses.
As each dress is a separate project, we will provide a tailor-made quote.
Because the story of a dress is also its story on the planet…
At Terre Blanche, we promote yesterday's clothes, no longer needed, to remake dresses without creating new material. With DECEO , an environmental impact calculation company, we were able to understand how the impact of our dresses was distributed, and highlight the impact on the environment of the actions that we were already putting in place, before thinking about news.
We were able to trace the thread of our pieces by carrying out a life cycle analysis for 3 dresses, starting from the material, through weaving, dyeing to restore shine to these forgotten dresses, manufacturing to bring them back to life , until washing and end of life.
Our impact on the environment is considerably minimized by the use of dresses from the last century, which therefore, considered dormant treasures, have no impact on the material. In addition, our natural dyeing methods allow a reduction in the impact on many criteria compared to traditional chemical dyeing (-98% on global warming for example). Finally, our impact during manufacturing is low, due to our workshop in Paris. The results were very encouraging: 96% less CO2 emitted compared to a new wedding dress.
It is with great pride that we share this information, highlighting French artisanal talent in the making of special occasion dresses, thus contributing significantly to reducing our impact on the environment.
